The F-5 Ejection Seat Drogue Stabilizing Parachute System (LSI P/N: PAR-1500-00) is used to stabilize and decelerate the seat with a minimum of altitude loss. The PAR-1500-00 positions the seat in a convenient attitude for aircrewmember separation. The purpose of drogue parachutes are to stabilize and decelerate the seat after ejection and before separation of the pilot from the seat. This provides a means of escape for personnel in the event of a flight emergency.

The stabilization parachute assembly is a drogue gun deployed system which consists of an incremental bridle, deployment sleeve, sixteen gore ribbon configuration canopy and riser, service disconnect and harness which is attached to ins on the back of the seat. When packed for service, the canopy and suspension lines are stowed in the headrest compartment within its container.  NSN: 1670-01-040-2569
